Representational Painting

KEY QUESTION: What are the philosophical assumptions behind making up? Behind maquillage? The skills are the same skills of old masters and of the most innovative artists of today. Is it to be done the same way everyday? If not, why? Is it a mediation? Is it a mask? Is it something else? What does it privilege? What does represent?

Referencing the great portapak piece by Eleanor Antin, this will be a multi-channel video installation paired with painting and other forms. Parts of the video will be a self-portrait, other parts will incorporate actors. Other channels will include animation.
